Visa Checkout Expands to Europe and India

Six new markets welcome safe and easy online payments.

Consumers everywhere are increasingly shopping for goods and services online and on their mobile devices, two of the fastest growing shopping channels, according to eMarketer. Visa Checkout accelerates the checkout process by eliminating the need to enter card your account details with every shopping experience—just a few clicks and you’re finished. This year, Visa is extending the popular online payment service to more merchants and consumers across Europe and India, making it safer and more convenient to shop on any mobile and connected device.

The decision follows the successful launch of Visa Checkout in countries like Brazil, China, Mexico and Singapore in 2015. With more than 10 million consumer accounts and acceptance by more than 250,000 merchants worldwide, Visa Checkout will continue to build momentum as it reaches consumers in France, India, Ireland, Poland, Spain and the United Kingdom.

This is a win for merchants in these countries too. According to new independent research from comScore, the ease and convenience of Visa Checkout significantly increases the chance customers will complete their online or mobile purchase. In fact, Visa Checkout customers in the U.S. completed 86 percent of their transactions compared to 57 percent for traditional checkout options) and 30 percent more transactions per person compared to all online shoppers.

“We’ve seen great results in the U.S.,” says Sam Shrauger, senior vice president of digital solutions forVisa, “and we know that as our global expansion continues, we can help drive positive results for more merchants and their consumers everywhere."
